Hotel Policy Information

The following policies apply to your stay at South Shire:

• Check-out time is 11:00 am, and Check-in Time is from 3 pm. until 7 pm. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability, additional charges, and prior arrangements. If you are arriving after 7 pm, please notify us, as you may experience issues accessing your room.
• As a small boutique operation, our business is immensely impacted by late cancellations. Reservations are fully refundable up to 5 days before the 3:00 pm EST check-in date. During our peak foliage season between Sep 19th and Oct 25th, reservations are fully refundable up to 30 days before the check-in date. If cancelled after the cut-off date, 1 night’s average room rate + applicable tax + surcharge will be automatically deducted for each room cancelled, without exception for any reason.
• For group bookings of more than three rooms, reservations are fully refundable up to 14 days before the check-in date. If cancelled within 14 days of the check-in date, 1 night’s average room rate + applicable tax + surcharge will be automatically deducted for every room cancelled, without exception.
• All rates are subject to 9% State and Local occupancy and Meals Tax.
• A 3.5% surcharge will be levied when paying by cheque, credit card, charge card, or debit card, covering the merchant service fee imposed by credit card companies.
• Rates DO NOT include breakfast unless otherwise specified. A Continental Breakfast may be purchased for $10 per person. Specific dietary requests require at least 48 hours' notice before your arrival.
• Our Guest Rooms are nonsmoking. A fumigation charge of $250.00 will be applied to your bill if evidence of smoking is discovered in your room
• Our listed rates are based on double occupancy, which applies regardless of whether one or two guests are staying in the room. The maximum occupancy is two adults or teenagers per room, unless otherwise specified. Additionally, we can accommodate up to two children under the age of 13 in a baby crib or cot at no additional charge. If needed, a rollaway bed is available for a fee of $30 per stay.
• We love pets; however, a fee of $20 per pet, plus $300, will be applied to your bill if a joining pet causes any odors, messes, or stains that require professional cleaning or fumigation.
• A credit card is required to hold all reservations, and a 10% deposit is required for bookings of more than three rooms.
• Guests arriving late or departing early are responsible for the full amount of the entire reservation.
• Our fireplaces are only operational from October to May. Due to insurance and fire regulations, Guests must only use Duraflame logs provided by the Inn in our fireplaces.
• Due to the rising cost of oil and our use of heating oil as a historic home, a winter heating fuel surcharge of $10 per night will be applied to all bookings from November through April.
